[ No need to use GP4, you always can desactivate RSE sound in GP5.]

[ BTW, the problem you speak about has been solved. ]

COOL

now the next question...

will GP5 have a better "Import Midi" function?
or will it be the same as GP4?

AND...

will there be a better palm muting, and will there be a better "distortion" sound?

Normally, the only forums I read are "Music" and "Competitions", but for some reason I decided to check out the GP forum today. Saw "GP5 samples", heard Enter Sandman, and the new sound gave me about 10 chubbies, instantly. Can't wait for GP5, and thanks RepDev for all your work.

With the size of tab library that is offered for GP4 sounding that much better in GP5, I would hope that the users that have supported this program to this point, would once again
invest in the futher development. It is far from being just a guitar program and I hope that a larger range of musicans come to consider it a "must have" program. The broader the support, the quicker we will get the next versions.

I'm afraid the sound we all are listening is just the sound of an excellent soundcard... do anyone know what soundcard it is ? I've decided (2 min ago) to buy a new soundcard, can anyone give me an advice to take a soundcard with an excellent midi sound ? just like in the gp5 files ?

repdev said that there wasn't any special soundcards used to make the samples.

What you are listening to is not due to the soundcard, it is due to the new technology Rep has used in GP5 called RSE (Realistic Sound Engine). The soundcard voices are only coming from non RSE tracks. This sound, however, will not be reproduced in your standard MIDI player. That will require a better soundcard. I use the SoundBlaster Audigy2 Platinum with the Airfont 340 soundfont (68MB), and I highly recommend both!

Wait, I don't quite get it, JBTaylorSr, what you are trying to say is that in order to have this kinda cool sound on my PC, i must have some kinda special sound card? you've named some that i don't know.
i'm just not much into computers and don't know much about them, so this kinda stuff really confuses me

No, that is not what I am saying. The sound you hear in the sample files is what your sound will be like with GP5 - no matter what sound card you have, due to the RSE.

BUT.....

If you save your GP file in MIDI format, and play it with a standard MIDI player, you will not hear the same sound, as the RSE is only in Guitar Pro.

AND.....

The cool sound is only for the instruments that use the RSE. Other instruments sound will be governed by your sound card. Obviously, some guitars, basses, and drums are in there.

NOW.....before you ask!:

To see which instruments will use the RSE, you will have to wait 'til November.

The MIDI portion of your sound card will still be used, so that is why I advocate buying a better sound card.
