GP6 wishlist..... post here

Why not post your wishlist here and maybe repdev and the other GP developers will consider it.

1. In the interim before GP6 is released, make GP5 more stable, as mine seems to crash a lot. I tend to use GP4, then when I'm done, I convert to GP5. If I create a tab in GP5 from scratch, it tends to crash 50% of the time, or some sort of error message arrives when I'm least expecting it. [I confess I have given up reporting these to the GP site, as I found it easier to do what I said, but I will change and start reporting the GP5 crashes].
2. Accommodate suggestions from previous wishlists where appropriate.
http://www.mysongbook.com/forum-posts-id_topic=14856.htm
http://www.mysongbook.com/forum-posts-id_topic=25302.htm
3. Support for partial capos http://www.shubb.com/partial/index.htm
4. At least 4 voices, instead of current 2.
5. Virtual voices. Similar to RSE, but instead of instruments, you can have female and male voices, soprano to bass. Harmony Assistant has virtual singers.
6. Include RSE for strings, brass and woodwind instruments.
7. Make printing/display options more flexible [like in GP4].
8. Make tied notes visible in tablature view.
9. Support for rhythm slashes.
10. Strum menu [like in Guitar Chord Buster].
http://www.guitar-club.com/
11. Legato/slurs/phrasing.
12. Make the Chorus/Reverb/Tremolo/Phaser work. I've never been able to use these, but maybe GP5 RSE takes care of these anyway?
13. Search facility, e.g. ability to search for mix table events would be useful, as I tend to edit those a lot, but can never find them unless I trawl through each bar of each track!
14. Correct the shift slide. This tends to truncate the 2nd note, unlike legato slide.
15. Improve the "dead note" feature. Dead notes tend to make a sound a bit like hammering a piece of metal.
16. Automatic selection [also editable though] of clefs/stave for specific instruments, e.g. piano/keys LH should be bass clef, violin should be 4 strings and GDAE tuning, double bass and guitar bass, etc.
17. Improve the help file to include stuff on RSE and Audio settings. I don't think there is much - if anything - on RSE in the help file [I could be wrong].

That's all I could think of for now.

Actually i posted a lot to arrobas already but why not:

I like Peter's list

Here"s mine:

Correct rhythm grouping so it works by beats and not by bars.
Possibility to use other note value as tempo reference.
More than one note appogiatures (at least 3)
Possibility to implement true tunings like Flat tunings instead of Sharps.
More intuitive key signature features.
Improvement to text and lyrics tool.
A better follow along arrow???(more visible) is this how i should call it?
Keep adding sound banks for RSE

I'll think about something else for sure but it pretty sums up my hopes!

An authentification tool for tab something that could associate a Gpro license to tabs done with each license. (i don't know if it's possible)

Like fretboards and keyboards why not creating a virtual drum.

why not make a fade tool that would work graphical similar to the bend and whammy tool?

because sometimes the fade in effekt does not yield the sound that you wanted and working with the mix tables volume change is way to complicated. With a graphical wizard you could simulate volume swells much better.

Blackiel: "12. Make the Chorus/Reverb/Tremolo/Phaser work. I've never been able to use these"

That's cause you have Microsoft GS wavetable SW Synth selected as your midi output device. There are other midi devices that supports chorus changes etc, wavetable synth does not support that.

I, more than anything else, would like to see the crashes fixed, as blackiel said.
My GP5 crashes often too, and before seeing GP6 out, I'd like to see a patch or something to fix this. The problem is that I don't think that's going to happen.
The way it works now, I see GP5 as a mediocre piece of software, so improving this should be crucial, I think.

well Peter then maybe your soundcards does not support those things either? I had another midi device before that Janne sent me and the chorus, phraser etc stuff worked fine then. Plus, my friend who uses his soundcard as the midi device can use those options too.

* Double pointed notes (which avoid linking sixteeth notes with whole notes, for example)

* Comprehension of instruments (i know GP is meant to be a guitar program, but I'll ask anyway) : Showing the limit of the instruments' register in red, to avoid writing too high or low for that instrument. And also the possibility to have two systems linked together, for piano.

* When using the 8va tool, making it actually sound an octave higher in midi.

All the rest sounded pretty good to me too!

Do you mean the instrument range, i.e. the recommended low to high notes of the instrument. If so, great idea and I thought of this before but forgot. I have a GP tab which shows ranges of common instruments.

sigh.. tell me about crashes... it seems GP5.1 cannot take that much 'beating'... if u continuously edit play edit play edit play.. by the 6th time.. something error in French will come out...

anyway:
1. for RSEs.. possible actual renaming for Legend Tones? eg. Satch-Surfing... Satriani-surfing with alien (or is it bcos of copyright/trademark issues?)
2. im not sure about others but I have latency problems when using other midi apart from Mic Sofy
3. Flanger - something like the Wahs
4. Yeah.. more RSE instruments... pianos, strings
5. the ability to select percussion numbers and change it, within selected bars for example.... eg: i want to change all the 40s to 38s from bar 1 to 5
6. changing dynamics with the use of selection normally will crash....
7. multiple selection with the use of Ctrl key.
8. thats all for now that i can think of...

~mine are not metal or likewise, but they are songs of my own~

@the fade-thing:
Shouldn't a button like Fade in have a couter-part, like, fade out? That wouldn't be hard to do and I've missed it since GP demo v2.2 or something like that, from 2002 or whatever it was. And some of the sounds in the rse-banks is similar to one another, shouldn't they be "deleted", it would render the size of the file having to load into the RAM-memory, alloving more instruments to optional, even if you have a "low" RAM?

Writting from scratch? Thank god, maybe the mac version wont be so quirky.

Whatever you do, KEEP the manuverability of the tab. Thats the 1 thing this program has over my other 2 favs sibelius/Finale. I love the fact i can basically write an entire like with my right hand on the keyboard.

What id love to see is:

BRING BACK THE MIDI EXPORT OPTIONS! I dontknow about you guys but I use GPro and Sibelius to write my tracks that i use in Logic. (or for you windows guys Cubase) Its a heck of alot easier than using the standard MIDI notation that comes with these programs. Gp5 only exports a MIDI that shows up as one single track, GP4 gives me multiple tracks.

What are the shortcut keys? Seriously i recall there being something on windows to show them, but on mac i have to go all from memory.

I'm not too wild over the RSE, it lags alot, doesnt sound that amazing IMO. If you could program your own samples thatd rule...but im used to hearing the good old sounds of GP3/4 so no complaints there.

Personally i liked the windows interface. (sickening isnt it?) It was familliar. Id be happy if it wasy laid out that way on mac, much like Maxon did with cinema4D. I really dont like all my tools floating around in separate boxes. That works for photoshop, but not when im doing music.

Oh, feature ive been dying for

Drag and drop ability to arrange songs! Much of that like logic/cubase. Maybe view each track as a timeline, with markings for bars/beats, letting you cut/paste/drag. IMO itd make life much easier, i feel like im Timecode editing in this thing with it's copy/paste right now.

Yes iim sure you guys can tell I'm more of a mac guy, and a recording guy than a songwritter. But hey i think those features would really be great. Gpro as it is helps further my projects..well when it behaves.

Open your EAX console, then click the effects tab. Under studio, select MIDI four effects. Make sure to click the checkbox 'enable audio effects'. Then you can use the slider on the right to select how much effect you want (I use 100%)

1. For bended notes the standard music score should display the final pitch, not the starting pitch (this does not apply to 1/4 tone bends of course).

2. The ability to have metric-free bars, i.e. just a bunch of free notes without time signature. This feature is mainly for didactic work, not for actual rendering.

3. On the chord wizard as well as on the scale wizard, the ability to display the content of the current bar in intervals relative to a particular note. This is currently very awkward.
