Israel is the foremost ambassador of the hawaiian culture, and played a major role in bringing its most famous traditional instrument back in fashion. The ukulele master released a medley of Over The Rainbow and What A Wonderful World in 1993 featuring only his diminutive instrument and his heartbreaking sweet voice, which was used as the soundtrack of Meeting Joe Black in 98 and enjoyed some chart action ten years after its release ! Sadly, Israel did not live to see this.
