A beat-up Stratocaster and a Vox AC30 were all that Rory needed to channel thunder. The Irish guitar hero had an intensity in every note he played that still makes the hair in the back of your neck stand up when listening to his live recordings, such as Live In Europe (1972), Irish Tour ‘74 and Stage Struck (1980). His voice and songwriting complete the full package, and it is a shame that Rory remains so underrated to rock and blues audiences.
