Consuelo Velázquez
Her name might not be universally famous, but one of her song definitely is. Consuelo was born in 1924 in the state of Jalesco, Mexico, and she wrote Besame Mucho when she was only 17 years old. That simple bolero was covered by an impressively wide range of artists, including Charles Aznavour, Dean Martin, Linda Rondstat, Tito Puente, Nat King Cole, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and even The Beatles while recording the Let It Be album.
