Often dismissed as a band for technique geeks only, Dream Theater doesn’t deserve such a bad rap at all : they are indeed among the most proficient and gifted musicians in their respective fields (John Myung on bass, Mike Portnoy and Mike Mangini on drums, Jordan Rudess on keyboards and the stunning John Petrucci on guitar), but they’re also capable of writing great hooky songs with riffs so huge they would make Metallica green with envy.
