Emilio Pujol
The status of the guitar has never been a given thing throughout its history, and the work of several leading figures in that sense has made a huge difference. Spanish guitarist Emilio Pujol spent most of the twentieth century establishing the guitar as a legitimate classical solo instrument through his numerous compositions and his colossal works of transcriptions of vihuela pieces. His recordings are still considered as milestones in that field.
