Franz Schubert
The rock idols of the twentieth century did not invent dying at a very young age, and with a lifespan of only thirty one years, Austrian composer of the early nineteenth century Franz Schubert would have fitted right in. Even in such a short period of time, his artistic output is very impressive : he wrote close to a thousand pieces, including seven operas, and showed the way to the Romantic composers that followed.
