Georges Van Parys
The operetta is often dismissed as a light form of opera that doesn’t require as much talent and creativity. However, writing light material is not as easy as it seems, and to do it with gusto is even harder. This is exactly why the compositions of the French writer Georges Van Parys have become such classics. Between 1922 and 1959, he crafted for the stage and for the screen, including La Complainte Des Infidèles later sung by Brassens.
