Guillaume de Morlaye
The lute of the early sixteenth century was so close to our modern guitar that most of the music written for that typical Renaissance instrument can easily be adapted to fit our six-stringed friend. Guillaume de Morlaye was one of the composers whose publications were recognized by the French king himself, and among the six collections of songs he published, some pieces remain a sheer pleasure to study and play.
