J.J. Cale
J.J. Cale is without a doubt the greatest unknown singer, guitarist and songwriter. Well, not exactly unknown : he deeply influenced the likes of Dire Straits, Tom Petty and especially Eric Clapton (who covered Cocaine and did a duet album with Cale), but compared with the quality of his output, his fortune and fame should have been much greater. One listen to his 1972 debut album Naturally (including Call Me The Breeze, later covered wy Lynyrd Skynyrd) should be enough to convince you.
