The Byrds
The Byrds embody the evolution of rock music in the sixties. They started off as a pop band covering Bob Dylan with a chimey sound inspired by the Beatles, propelled by Roger McGuinn’s 12 string licks and David Crosby’s lush harmonies. In 1966, they moved on towards psychedelia and modal improvisations, and finally became an amazing country rock band in 1968 with Gram Parsons and Clarence White holding guitar duties.
