The Knack
In the late seventies, the quartet from Los Angeles brought mod-era suits and raw guitars back in style with the huge hit single My Sharona. That simple octave-riff-driven song was number one in 1979 and it perfectly showcases the band’s talent for writing true pop gems. Singer Doug Fieger also brings a steady rhythmic assault while Berton Averre takes care of the biting, lyrical solo. This would remain their only true hit as the band eventually split up two years later.
