The Pogues
When The Pogues arrived on the British scene in 1984 with their debut album Red Roses For Me, nobody expected that fusion between punk (which by then had already moved on to become new wave) and traditional Celtic music. Led by the charismatic singer songwriter Shane MacGowan and guitarist Philip Chevron, the band hit the big time with their 1985 second outing, Rum Sodomy And The Lash, produced by no less than Elvis Costello.
