When guitarist Billy Howerdel and singer Maynard James Keenan (of Tool fame) formed A Perfect Circle, they probably didn’t expect the enthusiastic reaction that welcomed their 2000 debut album Mer de Noms. The thick watery guitar textures by Howerdel and Troy Van Leuween (Queens of The Stone Age) create their very own universe, further developed by James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) on the mesmerising second opus, Thirteenth Step.
