The Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco (national contest of the flamenco art) has been held in Cordoba for more than fifty years and it distinguishes the finest singers, dancers and guitar players in that style. So to win it at the age of only fifteen is definitely proof that you’re doing something right. That’s what happened to Rafael Riqueni, who is revered as the finest Spanish guitarist of the new generation, as can be heard on his 1987 landmark album, Flamenco.
