1984 was a very dull time in Great Britain, with Thatcher as the Prime Minister and a deep economic crisis putting thousands out of a job. In that context, The Smiths came and expressed the teenage angst better than anybody else. Mixing the beautiful sad voice of vegetarian singer Morrissey and the bluesy approach to new wave of guitarist Johnny Marr, they released four groundbreaking albums before breaking up in 1987.
